  Tommi Makinen, Finland

Tommi Makinen, 34, is not related to 60's legendary rally driver Timo Makinen. Tommi's first notable result was winning Group N in 1987 1000 Lakes Rally. After that he gained several Gr. N wins and had some good showings with Mazda and Nissan. In 1994 1000 Lakes he got his first chance to drive with competitive equipment for overall victory as Ford Motorsport offered him a drive. Tommi took the opportunity and won the rally in front of some of the fastest drivers in WRC. In 1996 he drove a full season for Mitsubishi and won the World Championship title in a dominant fashion. In 1997, 1998 and 1999 he took the title again, making it four in a row. Even surpassing their achievements, Tommi Makinen joins the line of legendary Flying Finns with names like Timo Makinen, Ari Vatanen, Hannu Mikkola and Juha Kankkunen.
