Didier Auriol, France

Didier Auriol's first WRC win was in Corsica '88. At that time he was considered an asphalt specialist but he learned very quicly to master all surfaces. 'The Frog' Auriol is known of his overflowing optimism (when asked how is it going the answer always is "no problem!") and funny looking sunglasses. He was very close to winning the World Championship in '92 and in 1994 he finally hit the jackpot and took the Championship title after an eventful final round of the series. In 1997 he returned to the Toyota works team. In 2000, as Toyota withdrew from the series, Didier moved to Seat.
