Tommi Makinen, 32, is not related to 60's legendary rally driver Timo Makinen. Tommi's first notable result was winning Group N in 1987 1000 Lakes Rally. After that he gained several Gr. N wins and had some good showings with Mazda and Nissan. In 1994 1000 Lakes he got his first chance to drive with competitive equipment for overall victory as Ford Motorsport offered him a drive. Tommi took the opportunity and won the rally in front of some of the fastest drivers in WRC. In 1996 he is driving a full season for Mitsubishi.
